Our Story
“We drove halfway to meet each other in a suburb of Philly, and after a tasty brunch, decided to go to Hershey for the factory tour. I expected a ton of free chocolate, which was wishful thinking during a pandemic. We made custom chocolate bars together instead, but never ended up eating them! Luckily, our lives together have been sweet ever since.”
“They say love at first sight is the kind of magic that happens only once in a lifetime—well, I got to savor the moment for 10 minutes as I watched Priyanka try to park before our first date!”
“It was really only about 5 minutes.”
Priyanka and Niraj found each other living 300 miles apart, and until then, thought the concept of fate was just a legend. Turns out… it was the beginning of something legendary. Niraj was intrigued by Priyanka’s past life as a radio DJ, and Priyanka’s sudden fascination with the Kansas City Chiefs was unexpected! Very quickly, text messages turned into exchanging raps to spice up the mundane activities of life, and soon, the day didn’t feel complete without each other.
The reality of long distance dating rapidly set in, but their connection was so strong that the time flew by in the blink of an eye (and many, many frequent flier miles). From summer pizza-making on Niraj’s deck in Virginia to co-hosting a new New York Friendsgiving tradition, the time together always felt too short, the days apart seemed to extend forever, and they realized they wanted to spend their lives together. Priyanka matched for fellowship training at Mount Sinai and Niraj started a new job at the same hospital—they went from video chats to having spontaneous lunches together! Shortly after moving to NYC, Niraj took Priyanka for a private photography class at the Storm King Art Center, which was rescheduled from the prior year. Just as Priyanka was ready to shoot her first landscape photo, she felt a tap on her shoulder. When she turned around, Niraj was down on one knee, waiting to ask a question that had absolutely nothing to do with photography… and the rest is history. You’ll have to ask the Hudson Valley mountains what happened next because Priyanka doesn’t remember anything after that—except that it was the happiest moment of her life.
